This half-day is based on a module regularly given to Production Sound and Broadcast Sound students at NFTS, and provides a practical overview of how a typical single-camera set-up connects to the world.

From the perspective of the jobbing “electric handbag” operator, this is easier than many might think.

Designed specifically for the reality/documentary sound operator, this module will show that there’s nothing to be afraid of once you understand the principles and the jargon!

We will simulate a real-world “Satellite Media Tour” between talent on one continent being interviewed live on-air by talent on another continent.

We’ll walk you through both the extra kit you might need, or encounter, and demonstrate how the communications work, show you some of the things that can go wrong, as well as strategies to work around the issues. This is a practical hands-on tutorial guided by experianced professional colleagues.

Time and space pressures mean that we have to limit this session to 8 attendees, so book early to avoid disappointment!

*Please note* there is no catering at NFTS on a Saturday. Please have lunch before you arrive for this event. There are many places to eat in Beaconsfield, old and new town.
